Eighteen-year-old Lucy Henderson from Hexham has signed up for the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s (GNAAS) Miles4Missions challenge, a virtual event where participants cover daily distances matching the previous day’s missions responded to by GNAAS. Lucy, who suffered serious injuries in a horse-riding accident in June—including internal bleeding, multiple fractures, and organ damage—credits GNAAS and the North East Ambulance Service for her life-saving care. This is her second time receiving critical help from GNAAS after a previous fall in 2017.
After spending time in intensive care and making a remarkable recovery, Lucy has returned to horse riding and is now raising funds for the service that aided her. Participants in Miles4Missions receive a digital fundraising pack and a water bottle after raising their first £10, encouraging supporters to stay active while supporting GNAAS’s vital emergency response work.
