The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) will hold its scholarship drawings on Saturday, December 20, at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, coinciding with the conclusion of the 2025 live racing season. During the event, which features the prestigious LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity race, $25,000 in scholarships will be awarded to eligible Louisiana high school graduates and seniors planning to attend higher education institutions. Six $2,500 scholarships and two $5,000 scholarships will be drawn, with students required to be present for the drawings.

Since its inception in 2001, the LQHBA Scholarship Fund has awarded over $950,000 to support Louisiana students’ educational pursuits. The program reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering education within the Quarter Horse community, celebrating the longstanding family involvement in Louisiana’s horse breeding and racing traditions.
