Louisiana-Bred Epicenter Filly Sells for $400,000 at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale

A Louisiana-bred filly by first-crop sire Epicenter (Hip 289) sold for $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale, purchased by Marette Farrell for Scott Mawaka’s Mo Speed Racing. Bred by Coteau Grove Farms, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Tumbarumba, also a product of the October Yearlings sale. The filly impressed buyers with her size, presence, and pedigree, described as a stakes-caliber prospect by Coteau Grove’s adviser Andrew Cary.

Mawaka and Farrell have been building their racing and broodmare stock aggressively, with Mawaka highlighting the filly’s physical attributes and Louisiana-bred status as valuable for state-bred racing opportunities. The filly will go to WinStar Farm with no trainer yet assigned, though interest has already come from notable trainers. Lane’s End consigner Allaire Ryan noted the filly exceeded price expectations, reflecting strong market demand and the quality of Coteau Grove’s breeding program, which has produced multiple graded stakes winners.
