Longwood Yearlings Reunited and Ready for 2026 Inglis Premier Sale After Bushfire Evacuation

Longwood Thoroughbred Farm faced significant challenges after evacuating its 21 yearlings during Victoria’s devastating January bushfires, which destroyed key infrastructure including fencing and barns. Principal Michael Christian described the difficult recovery process, including outsourcing yearling preparation to five different farms due to the damage. Despite these setbacks, all yearlings were reunited at Oaklands Junction for the 2026 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, marking a hopeful milestone as Longwood continues rebuilding efforts on the property.

The farm’s draft features several standout colts from prestigious bloodlines, including a chestnut colt by Toronado out of Di Lusso, and others by Capitalist, Ghaiyyath, Street Boss, and Anders, each with promising pedigrees and strong physical attributes. Christian expressed optimism about buyer interest and the quality of the draft, highlighting the resilience and support from the industry during a challenging period. The sale represents a significant step forward for Longwood as it looks to the future after the bushfire crisis.
