Local Author Sky Fisher Wins 2025 Winnie Award for Children’s Book on Wild Horses

Local author Sky Fisher has received national acclaim for her children’s book “Fabio’s Great Escape,” which won the 2025 Winnie Award for “Best Wild Horse Children’s Story” at the Equus Film & Arts Fest. This marks the second consecutive year Fisher has earned this honor, following her 2024 win for “Fabulous Fabio Finds a Home,” both part of her Fabio & Friends series inspired by the true stories of two mustangs she adopted from a local rescue.

Fisher’s books highlight themes of friendship, adventure, and the bond between humans and horses, drawing from the real-life journeys of Fabio and Moon, wild horses rescued and rehabilitated in California. With a growing readership and two award-winning titles, Fisher aims to raise awareness about America’s wild horses and supports mustang rescues by donating a portion of her book sales.
