Live Oak County recently hosted its annual Agricultural Field Day, engaging 90 fourth graders from George West Elementary in hands-on learning about agriculture and rural safety. Organized by the Live Oak County Farm Bureau with support from 4-H members and the Extension Service, students rotated through interactive stations covering topics such as fire safety, dairy nutrition, livestock and equine education, wildlife conservation, electrical safety, crop production, soil science, and the benefits of beef.
The event connected classroom lessons to real-world experiences, fostering students’ appreciation for agriculture, natural resources, and community safety. Thanks to the dedication of numerous volunteers and local organizations, the day successfully promoted youth education and highlighted the importance of agriculture in Live Oak County’s future.
