Trainer Linda Rice dominated the Aqueduct Racetrack card on Thursday, securing five wins from six starters and placing second with the other two runners. This performance extended her lead in the Aqueduct winter meet trainer standings to 20 wins, far ahead of her closest competitor. Rice, who was the leading trainer at NYRA last year with a record 172 wins, continues to focus her stable on the New York circuit, finding consistent success in winter racing.
Rice’s winners included a natural hat trick to start the day, with horses Always Practical, Adventurist, and Sweetest Princess all capturing victories early on. She also trained the exacta finish in Race 6 and closed the day with With the Angels, a multiple stakes-winning filly who is now being aimed at the upcoming $135,000 Correction sprint. Jockey Jose Lezcano, who rode three winners for Rice on the card, praised her training and the strong performances of her horses throughout the day.
