Lillian Gash’s Animal Sanctuary Brings Joy to Hospital Patients and Shines at National Horse Shows

Lillian Gash is a dedicated animal rescuer and advocate who has created a sanctuary for various animals, including ponies, cats, and sheep. One of her notable successes is rescuing Charlie, a pony from Wexford, who formed a strong bond with her daughter Samantha. Together, they achieved remarkable success by qualifying and competing at the prestigious RDS Annual Horse Show, ranking among the top 20 ponies in Ireland. Their journey also included representing Ireland in a jumping competition in Scotland, supported by Tiggy’s Trust and trainer Eimear White.

Beyond equine rescue, Lillian actively supports other animal welfare projects such as the Cobh Horse Rescue Centre, My Lovely Horse, and the Munster Lost and Found Helpline for cats. She runs her own cattery, fosters abandoned cats, and helps organize local cat shows. Additionally, Lillian brings joy to elderly patients at Kinsale Hospital by arranging visits from farm animals like Shana the sheep and newborn lambs, fostering cherished memories and comfort for the older generation.
