The Liberty University Equestrian team placed second for the season at the IHSA Hunt Seat Zone 4 Region 4 Individual Qualifiers Regional Championship Horse Show. Despite finishing behind Sweet Briar, many Liberty riders qualified for the next competition. Twelve seniors on the team were recognized for their time with the Flames, with John Hutchinson being the most decorated member of the team this season.
The top two riders in each class at the competition earned the opportunity to move onto the IHSA Zone 4 finals. John Hutchinson and Tristan Battin secured their spots in their respective contests, while Katie Staib and Madeleine Hammond also qualified. Other team members finished with notable performances, just missing the qualifying mark.
Hutchinson, Battin, Staib, and Hammond will compete at the IHSA Zone 4 Championship Horse Show at Virginia Tech University for a chance to advance to the IHSA Nationals in May. The team expressed excitement and pride in their hard work and progress throughout the season.
