Fourteen-year-old Lexi Fairbanks, a rising dressage talent from Lehi, recently competed at the prestigious Lamplighter Festival of Champions in Illinois, marking a remarkable milestone just one year after beginning the sport. dressage, known as “horse ballet,” demands intense harmony and trust between horse and rider, and Lexi quickly forged a strong bond with her horse Casara (“Ferny”) in just three months. With coaching from Sara Kirby, Justin Giles, and Margo Gogan, Lexi’s dedication and hard work led her to place in the top five at the dressage Seat Medal Finals, qualifying her for future national and international competitions.
Lexi’s journey is supported by her family, especially her mother Merrilee, who manages the demanding logistics and emotional challenges of competitive equestrian sports. Lexi’s background in jumping complements her dressage skills, and she credits her community’s encouragement as vital to her progress.
