Lewis Robertson-Carrier and his longtime partner Diego V triumphed at the CDI3* Lier freestyle dressage competition in Belgium, scoring 76.08% in their first international outing since October. Despite Diego being 18 years old, he performed with remarkable energy and precision, delivering one of their best freestyles with standout piaffe pirouettes and extended canters. Lewis praised the support from Equidance for their freestyle music and expressed joy at competing at a larger show again, noting Lier’s excellent organization. Their victory also earned them a unique prize—a new sofa from the class sponsor, Henders and Hazel.
Looking ahead to 2026, Lewis plans to enter all major competitions, acknowledging the challenge of breaking into the UK senior team given the strong competition. He highlighted Diego’s exceptional career, including national championships and Nations Cups, and expressed hope to compete on another Nations Cup team with him. While Lewis has promising younger horses, Diego remains a world-class partner who continues to impress and inspire him.
