Leslie Bouchonville Retires After Nearly 30 Years Leading Pine River-Backus Family Center

Leslie Bouchonville played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the Pine River-Backus Family Center nearly 30 years ago, stepping in as its first executive director after responding to a newspaper ad. The center, initially focused on teen pregnancy prevention, expanded over the years to offer a wide range of community services including anti-drug programs, a thrift store, family planning, and food shelf initiatives. Bouchonville’s leadership helped secure more stable funding sources beyond grants, enabling the center to thrive where others in the state did not, and she also took on leadership of the Northland Family Center, growing its staff and services.

After decades of dedicated service, Bouchonville is retiring and passing the executive director role to Helen Richardson, who brings strong technological skills to the position. Bouchonville plans to support her husband’s recovery from surgery and remain active in the community, including potential involvement with the local school board and spending time with family and outdoor activities. Her legacy is one of sustained community impact and organizational growth, ensuring the family center remains a vital resource for local families.
