Lawrence “Larry” Freeman Swope, born October 9, 1938, in Missouri, passed away on November 26, 2025, after battling heart failure. Larry was a devoted family man, husband to Maxine for 67 years, and father of six children. He grew up near St. Joseph, was active in 4H and horse riding, served in the Army, and spent 38 years running a dairy farm near Amity before transitioning to raising beef cattle with his son. Larry was also a respected judge for the American Paint Horse Association and deeply involved in his community and church.
Larry is remembered as a hardworking, loving, and resourceful individual who taught his children the values of dedication and care. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. Funeral services were held on December 2, 2025, with memorial contributions suggested to the Wranglers 4H Club in his honor.
