Singaporean para-equestrienne Laurentia Tan achieved a remarkable feat at the FEI Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, securing three individual gold medals in para-dressage aboard her horse Hickstead, as well as contributing to Singapore’s team gold alongside Gemma Foo and Hilary Su. Tan won the individual Grand Prix A and B tests and the freestyle event, further cementing her status as Asia’s top para-dressage athlete and adding to her Paralympic medal tally from the 2008 and 2012 Games.
The event also highlighted the rising standard of para-dressage in Asia, with 29-year-old Gemma Foo placing second in multiple individual events. German coach Volker Eubel praised the championship as a pivotal moment for the sport in the region, emphasizing that the strong performances by Tan, Foo, and Su have elevated Asia’s profile in para-equestrian competition and demonstrated the continent’s growing competitiveness on the world stage.
