The dressage Foundation has awarded Lauren Sprieser and her Danish Warmblood gelding, C. Cadeau, the $15,000 Carol Lavell Developing dressage Prize, established in 2024 to support emerging international-level dressage riders and horses in the U.S. This grant aims to assist with training and competition costs for teams competing at small tour or USEF 7-Year-Old Test levels. Lauren and Cadeau have had a successful season, including being reserve champions at the USEF Intermediaire I National Championship, and she plans to use the funds to train with Olympian Ali Brock in Florida.
The prize honors Carol Lavell, an accomplished Olympian and dressage figure who created these awards to help riders aspiring to reach elite levels. The dressage Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing dressage, manages the prize and encourages applications annually by August 31. More information about the foundation and its grants is available on their website or through their Director of Grants and Programs.
