Laura Scott’s Remarkable Rise in Para Dressage Eight Years After Life-Changing Injury

Laura Scott has emerged as a leading para dressage rider in 2025, overcoming a severe spinal injury sustained eight years ago that left her initially paralyzed from the neck down. After intensive rehabilitation and mental struggles, she found solace and purpose by returning to riding, supported by the Injured Jockeys Fund and guided by trainers Nina Venables and Pammy Hutton. Her breakthrough year included winning the grade IV national title and excelling at international competitions with her horse CEI Summer Days, a partnership that quickly blossomed from preliminary levels to top-tier success.

Looking ahead to 2026, Laura aims to further develop Summer Days and compete him in able-bodied medium-level dressage, while also producing a homebred young horse. Being selected for the World Class Programme has bolstered her confidence, and she balances her competitive ambitions with her role as head girl for her father’s training yard. Laura’s journey reflects resilience, adaptability, and a deep passion for equestrian sport, marking her as a rising star in para dressage.
