Four-year-old Kentucky-bred Grande secured a gate-to-wire victory in the $175,000 Ghostzapper Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, marking the first graded stakes win for Larry and Karen Doyle’s KatieRich Farms breeding program. Trained by Todd Pletcher and purchased for $300,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Grande’s only loss was a second-place finish in the 2025 Wood Memorial (G2), with an injury later sidelining his Kentucky Derby plans. This win validates the Doyles’ careful and patient approach to breeding and racing, which has produced other notable horses such as Lady Apple, Faithfully, and Instilled Regard.
KatieRich Farms, a 330-acre former cattle farm in Woodford County, Kentucky, was developed from scratch beginning in 2007 after the Doyles struggled to find an existing farm that met their criteria. Larry Doyle’s lifelong passion for racing, combined with business acumen and a commitment to due diligence, guided the farm’s thoughtful design and operation. The farm’s success is attributed not only to the Doyles but also to their dedicated staff, with their yearling consignments consistently ranking near the top of sales and graduates achieving stakes-winning success on the track.
