Lake Placid Horse Show Returns with Renovated Grounds and FEI Sanctioning

The 56th annual Lake Placid Horse Show began on Tuesday at the North Elba Show Grounds, featuring significant upgrades to the venue, including reconfigured rings and improved footing to enhance safety and performance for horses and riders. The grounds are now FEI-sanctioned, allowing competitors to earn world ranking points, which attracts top riders. The event runs through June 29, followed by the I Love New York Horse Show from July 1-6, both highlighted by Grand Prix competitions with substantial prize money.

This year’s show hosts about 850 horses in 1,148 stalls, with a waitlist due to high demand, though organizers limited entries to ensure a manageable schedule ending by 5 p.m. daily, allowing participants to enjoy the local town. Additional attractions include a Doggie Costume Contest on July 6. Admission is $8 on weekdays (free Tuesday) and $10 on weekends, with free entry for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. More information is available through the Lake Placid Horse Show Association.
