At the 2025 WIHS Regional Horse Show & USHJA Zone 3 Championship held in Upperville, VA, Laila Theurer of Darnestown, MD, won the Maryland Horse Shows Association (MHSA) Gittings Horsemanship Finals riding Northern Star, a 12-year-old Zangersheide mare. This was Theurer’s first appearance in the class, where she excelled through multiple phases including jumping, flat work, and a challenging test course. Transitioning from pony hunters to equitation classes, Theurer expressed excitement about her win, highlighting the significance of achieving success early in her equitation career on such a remarkable horse.
Other notable champions at the event included Gillian Aiken on Nida van de Kransvijver, who won the Grand Amateur Jumper Championship; Skye Zeidan on Archive, who took the Grand Adult Amateur Hunter title; Guy Cambria on Cadello, crowned Grand Green Hunter Champion; Emily Young on Learn To Fly, who won the Grand Children’s Hunter Championship; and Evangeline Pirolli on Crown Ridge Royal Jubilee, who secured the Grand Children’s Pony Hunter Championship. The event served as a key lead-up to the 67th Annual Washington International Horse Show.
