The Korea Racing Authority (KRA) has announced the introduction of Knicks Go, a world-class racehorse selected through its proprietary K-NICKS technology, to Korea’s breeding program starting in 2026. K-NICKS integrates DNA, ancestry, and race records to scientifically evaluate and select top horses early, moving away from traditional visual and experience-based methods. Knicks Go, purchased in 2017 for $87,000, achieved remarkable success including five Grade 1 wins and over $9 million in prize money, and has already proven his value as a sire in the U.S., ranking fourth among first-crop sires.
This move marks a structural innovation for Korea’s horse industry by enabling domestic farms to access elite pedigrees at lower costs, boosting the value and performance of Korean racehorses. The KRA expects this to create a virtuous cycle of increased farm income, local economic revitalization, and greater international presence through exports and auctions. Knicks Go will arrive at Jeju Ranch by the end of December to begin breeding activities for the 2026 season, symbolizing the return of a champion discovered with Korean technology and poised to elevate the domestic racing industry.
