Klaira Wing, a 6-year-old Cloverbud from Seaford, Delaware, is participating for the first time in the Delaware State Fair, embracing this year’s theme, “kick up some fun.” Excited to showcase her crafts, sewing, drawing, and singing, Klaira aims for a blue ribbon, continuing her family’s deep 4-H tradition that spans four generations. Her brother Eli, 9, will also compete in archery and the 4-H talent show, highlighting the family’s diverse involvement beyond typical livestock exhibits.
The Wing family’s 4-H legacy is rooted in skills like sewing, passed down through generations, with Klaira’s mother Krista recalling fond memories of learning and bonding through sewing projects. The Delaware State Fair also prominently features the University of Delaware’s impact, with the UD Cooperative Extension—home to 4-H—having the largest presence, alongside informational booths from University Government Relations promoting admissions and community engagement.
