The Jockey Club Patrons Scholarship has been launched to provide new career opportunities in horse racing for young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Announced during the King and Queen’s first official visit to Newmarket as monarchs, the scholarship will offer two placements annually over the next three years, in partnership with The National Stud and the British Racing School. This initiative aims to create a lasting legacy from the royal visit and encourage greater inclusivity within the racing industry.
During their visit, the King and Queen met with industry leaders, community representatives, and members of The Jockey Club, highlighting their role as joint patrons since last year. The visit included a tour of The National Stud and meetings with racing charities, emphasizing a shared commitment to supporting and sustaining the thoroughbred racing community for future generations.
