Kentucky has introduced a new “Friends of Agriculture” specialty license plate that allows all vehicle owners—not just farmers—to support the state’s agricultural community. Building on the existing Ag Tag program, this plate features logos from 4-H, FFA, and Kentucky Proud, with a $10 fee from each purchase or renewal split equally among Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. The program funds youth development, leadership programs, and agricultural initiatives, with proceeds supporting scholarships, leadership events, and awards that benefit local communities.
The new plate, created through House Bill 157 in 2025, expands eligibility beyond farm vehicles while maintaining the same funding structure as the original plate established in 2012. Kentucky’s agriculture is a significant part of the state’s identity, with over 85,000 farms and leading industries including horse breeding, poultry, corn, and tobacco. The Ag Tag program has generated substantial support, with a record $735,815.88 raised in 2023, directly benefiting youth organizations and agricultural programs that foster the future of farming in Kentucky.
