The Kemmerer 4-H Club, with support from the city and community, hosted its annual Haunted Hayride on October 13, offering a spooky wagon ride from the Kemmerer Little League Fields to the Fossil Island Golf Course trail. Participants of all ages experienced eerie scenes featuring clowns, skeletons, and other frightening figures, enjoying a festive and chilling evening despite cold weather. The event, which began over a decade ago as a Haunted Barn fundraiser, continues to raise money to cover 4-H membership fees and project supplies, making the program accessible to all local children.
This year’s hayride was notably successful, with long lines and enthusiastic attendees, both costumed and not, arriving via horse-drawn wagons driven by plague doctor-costumed drivers. Organizers collected feedback through a survey, revealing that many enjoyed the wagon ride itself, while some children favored the spooky elements. The event remains a cherished community tradition that supports youth involvement in 4-H activities.
