Kellythorpes Dracarys Triumphs Again at Royal Windsor Horse Show

At the Royal Windsor Horse Show, three-year-old gelding Kellythorpes Dracarys, known as Rio, successfully defended his title in the non-native coloured youngstock class and clinched the overall coloured in-hand championship. Owned by the Leeman family and shown by Daniel Tarpey, Rio has quickly made a name for himself, having joined Tarpey’s yard only in February and already securing multiple championships this year.

Previously, Rio was shown as a two-year-old by Frazer Atherden, achieving notable wins in sports horse and coloured youngstock classes. Daniel praised Rio’s trainable temperament, highlighting his ease of handling. Additionally, Tarpey produced the winner of the traditional/native/cob horse open in-hand class, Greateaves Estralita, who has also qualified for the Royal International Horse Show.

The reserve coloured in-hand title went to Michelle Cuerden’s stallion Luvely Jubbly, led by Harry Marsden, while Raychal and Joe Mason’s two-year-old colt Masterpiece won the traditional/native/cob youngstock class. Masterpiece, a serendipitous find on Facebook, showcases the excitement and potential of young equines in the competitive showing scene.
