The Keeneland September yearling sale has seen remarkable success, with $48 million in sales on Sunday alone pushing the cumulative gross to $417 million after six sessions—already surpassing last year’s total of $411 million for the entire 12-day auction. So far, 1,216 yearlings have sold for an average of $343,439 and a median of $250,000, marking significant increases of 24%, 19%, and 19% respectively compared to the same period last year. Notably, 56 yearlings have sold for $1 million or more, up from 36 last year, highlighting the strong demand and quality in this year’s catalog.
Sunday’s session featured top sales including two colts by Not This Time, with the highest-priced colt fetching $875,000, purchased by Repole stable and St. Elias Stables. Other notable sales included a $675,000 colt by Tiz the Law and four yearlings sold for $600,000 each, from sires such as Bolt d’Oro, Nyquist, Liam’s Map, and Not This Time. Taylor Made Sales Agency led consignors with $5.4 million in sales, while Chad Summers was the leading buyer, spending $1.17 million on four yearlings. The strong market performance reflects robust buyer interest and confidence in the quality of horses offered.
