Keeneland September Yearling Sale 2025 Kicks Off with Record Seven-Figure Yearling Sales

The 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale kicked off with strong momentum, highlighted by 15 yearlings selling for seven figures in the first session alone. Notable sales included a Flightline colt named Stock Rising, purchased by John Stewart’s Resolute Racing for $1.5 million, and another Flightline colt sold for $1.7 million to Naohiro Sakaguchi. The session’s top seller was a Gun Runner colt bought by M.V. Magnier, White Birch, and Winchell Thoroughbreds, underscoring the high demand for progeny of prominent sires and champions.

The robust buying continued into the second session, which saw 20 yearlings reach seven-figure prices, including two surpassing $2 million. Among these were a Gun Runner colt, full brother to 2022 Preakness winner Early Voting, sold to Wesley Ward for $2.2 million, and a Flightline filly purchased by LSU Stables for the same amount. Overall, Book 1 sales totaled nearly $150 million from 228 yearlings, with an average price of $652,698 and a median of $525,000, reflecting a strong market for elite bloodlines and racing potential.
