Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, will host the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships on October 30-31, marking the fourth time the venue has held this prestigious event. The race dates are pending approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation. Keeneland has previously hosted the championships in 2015, 2020, and 2022, and will complement the races with major Thoroughbred auctions.
The venue is currently undergoing a significant $100+ million capital construction project, the largest in its 89-year history. This investment aims to enhance the experience for fans and participants, with new hospitality features including a Paddock Building that will offer upgraded dining options and unique viewing experiences for over 1,000 attendees. The renovations are designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both horses and spectators.
In addition to the Breeders’ Cup, Keeneland will host the third annual Championship Sale on October 28, 2026, providing opportunities for ownership of horses connected to the event. Following the Breeders’ Cup, the November Breeding Stock Sale will commence on November 3, further enriching the racing and breeding community in the area.
