The Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale ended on November 11 with 1,976 horses sold for a total of $245.9 million, marking a 25% increase from the previous year and the highest gross since 2007. The sale set records for average price, which rose 37% to $124,444, and median price, which increased 50% to $60,000. Eighteen horses sold for $1 million or more, including the top-priced horse, Grade 1 winner Lush Lips, who fetched $3.7 million. The sale also saw strong international and domestic buyer participation, with notable sales including a $2.2 million Gun Runner colt and a $1.25 million Curlin filly.
The sale featured numerous dispersals and reductions, with the DJ stable Curated Reduction bringing in $6.4 million. Leading buyer Raging Torrent Syndicate purchased five horses totaling over $5.2 million. The robust September Yearling Sale helped fuel reinvestment and confidence in the market, driving gains at the November Sale. Keeneland’s Horses of Racing Age Sale was set to begin immediately after, continuing the momentum in the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry.
