John Stewart’s Resolute Racing Makes Impact with First Japanese Market Purchase

John Stewart’s Resolute Racing made a notable debut in the Japanese market by purchasing a daughter of Kitasan Black for ¥170 million at the Japan Racing Horse Association Sale. This filly, bred from a strong pedigree including U.S. turf Grade 1 winner Photo Call and the influential Galileo line, will be brought to the U.S. to enhance Stewart’s breeding program. Stewart emphasized the strategic value of reintroducing bloodlines that had been exported from the U.S., highlighting the filly’s dam’s pedigree and the success of Japanese breeding efforts.

Despite being outbid on another promising colt, Stewart plans to remain active in the Japanese market, with upcoming foal sales on his agenda. Since starting purchases in 2022, Stewart has rapidly expanded his presence across global markets, including Europe, Australia, and North America. He praised Japan’s global breeding approach and the quality of horses produced by Northern Farm and the JRHA, signaling a long-term commitment to sourcing elite bloodstock from Japan.
