Jessica Taggart, a 14-year-old learner at Parktown High School for Girls, recently showcased her equestrian skills at the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Regional Competition, representing the Johannesburg Central A team in 90cm showjumping classes. She achieved impressive placements, finishing 2nd in the first A2 class (two rounds) and 5th in the second A1 class (one timed round). Jessica began riding in Grade 3 and started competing seriously after joining Phaeton Park Stables in Grade 7, driven by her passion for the rider-horse bond and the adrenaline of competition.
Over her three years competing in Sanesa, Jessica has earned multiple accolades, including representing Johannesburg and Gauteng teams at regional and national levels, winning the Victor Ludorum for showjumping, and receiving regional full colors in the Gauteng School Equestrian category. She is set to compete in the 90cm showjumping classes at the national championships in October, representing both the Gauteng A and B teams.
