Piper Harmon, a teen from Jersey Shore, was crowned the Lifevac Therapeutic Riding Champion at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg on October 17. The championship featured equestrians with disabilities from across Pennsylvania who qualified by competing in horse shows throughout the summer. Sponsored by Lifevac and the PNHS Foundation, the event allowed these riders to compete in the same arena as elite international equestrians at no cost to their families.
Piper’s coach, Sarina Bower, highlighted the special nature of the event, noting the encouragement the therapeutic riders received from Grand Prix competitors during warm-ups. Piper’s victory in her division was celebrated as a perfect culmination of the experience, showcasing the inclusive and supportive environment fostered by the championship.
