James Alliston and HMR Rolan Win USEA Open Intermediate Championship at 2025 AEC

James Alliston and his 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, HMR Rolan, won the USEA Open Intermediate Championship at the 2025 USEA American Eventing Championships in Temecula, California. Despite a less-than-perfect dressage test, they delivered the fastest and only double-clear cross-country round, securing their victory on a dressage score of 29.5. Alliston praised Rolan’s natural talent, bravery, and improving speed, highlighting their rapid progression as a partnership of just over two years.

Other top finishers included Erin Kellerhouse, who placed second with her Oldenburg gelding Bon Vivant GWF, and Molly Duda, who finished third riding her Dutch Warmblood mare Jutopia. Kellerhouse emphasized Bon Vivant’s sensitivity and reliability, while Duda noted the challenges and growth in her newer partnership with Jutopia, especially in show jumping. The event, held annually, is the premier national championship for eventing in the U.S., drawing top riders and horses across multiple levels to compete for significant prize money and national titles.
