Jahmyr Gibbs Leads Detroit Lions to Overtime Victory Over New York Giants

Jahmyr Gibbs delivered a standout performance, rushing for 219 yards and three total touchdowns, including a decisive 69-yard touchdown run on the first snap of overtime, to lead the Detroit Lions to a 34-27 victory over the New York Giants. Despite trailing by double digits multiple times, the Lions rallied behind Gibbs’ career-high 264 yards from scrimmage and key plays from quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Detroit’s win improved their record to 7-4, keeping their playoff hopes alive and avoiding back-to-back losses for the first time in over three years.

The Giants, now 2-10, suffered their sixth consecutive loss, continuing a troubling pattern of failing to close out games after leading in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 366 yards and two touchdowns but was unable to capitalize late, including a critical failed fourth-and-goal attempt in the final minutes. Despite strong performances from receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and others, New York’s defense couldn’t contain Gibbs in overtime, and the team’s inability to finish games remains a major concern under interim coach Mike Kafka.
