Jacqueline Siu Narrowly Misses FEI Asian Championships Medal Again but Remains Positive

Jacqueline Siu Wing-ying narrowly missed out on an FEI Asian Championships medal for the second time in four days, finishing just 0.55 points behind the bronze medalist in the freestyle dressage event in Thailand. Despite performing last among 18 competitors and teaming up with her horse Izonik only six weeks prior, Siu remained positive and proud of her performance. The gold and silver medals went to Sarah Rao of China and India’s Shruti Vora, respectively, while home rider Pakjira Thongpakdi edged Siu out for bronze by a slim margin.

Siu, who had previously helped Hong Kong secure a team bronze alongside Annie Ho Yuen-yan and Samantha Chan, maintained an upbeat attitude despite the close results and recent personal reflections on the Tai Po fire tragedy. At 43, she emphasized the importance of perspective beyond sport and expressed satisfaction with her efforts given the short preparation time with Izonik. Annie Ho and Samantha Chan placed 11th and 15th individually, with Annie set to compete in the team evening event.
