Jacqueline Lai Reflects on National Games Showjumping and Looks Ahead to Asian Championships

Jacqueline Lai Jing-man expressed a positive and confident mindset ahead of the Asian Championships, despite the unique challenge of competing immediately after the National Games. At the Games in Shenzhen, Lai finished joint third in the showjumping final but ultimately placed fifth after a jump-off for the bronze medal. She acknowledged that her horse felt “a little empty” during the jump-off and felt she could have managed the round better, but remained overall pleased with her performance.

Reflecting on her past experiences, Lai recalled winning silver in the 2013 China Games and a team bronze four years earlier, noting that she approached this latest competition with less pressure due to her increased experience and knowledge of the sport. Although the city squad did not secure any medals this time, Lai’s confidence and readiness signal her strong preparation for upcoming challenges.
