Isabell Werth Retains Dressage World Cup Title with Near-Perfect Ride

Six-time Olympic champion Isabell Werth successfully defended her dressage World Cup title with an impressive performance on her horse Weihegold OLD at the Accor Hotels arena. Scoring 90.657 percent, Werth, a seven-time world champion, secured her fourth World Cup title (previous wins in 1992, 2007, and 2017), narrowly beating American Laura Graves by 1.575 percentage points. Despite some mistakes in the previous day’s Grand Prix, Werth delivered a near-flawless Grand Prix Freestyle, earning top marks from six of the seven judges.

Werth praised her 13-year-old mare’s focus and power, calling it one of their best freestyle performances. Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, another German competitor, finished third with a score of 83.725 percent. The dressage final was part of a combined event with the World Cup jumping final, scheduled for the following day.
