Ireland Wins First European Eventing Championships Medal in 30 Years with Silver at Blenheim Palace

Ireland secured their first European Eventing Championships medal in 30 years by winning silver at Blenheim Palace. The Irish team, consisting of Padraig McCarthy, Robbie Kearns, Aoife Clark, and Ian Cassells, finished second behind Germany with a score of 161.9, performing strongly in both the cross-country and show jumping phases. This achievement marks Ireland’s first team medal since 1995, when they won bronze in Italy.

Germany claimed the gold medal, led by Michael Jung, with a final score of 124.9, while France took bronze with 167.5 points. Irish high performance manager Dag Albert praised the team’s resilience and performance under pressure, emphasizing the collective effort behind the success and expressing pride in achieving their goal of medaling at the event.
