Investigation Launched into Cruel Abandonment of Foal Found Tied to Post

A young foal, possibly alive or dead, was found tied to a post with visible wounds and scrapes, indicating it may have been dragged before being abandoned. The RSPCA is investigating the circumstances surrounding the foal’s death and the irresponsible disposal of its body in a public area, emphasizing the need to identify the owner and the cause of death.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Joe White expressed sadness over the incident, highlighting the cruelty involved and the frequent occurrence of similar cases where horses are abandoned or subjected to mistreatment. The investigation suggests that the foal was likely transported to the site in a vehicle before being tied up and discarded.

The RSPCA noted that the disposal of a horse’s body can be costly, leading to instances where dead horses are treated like refuse. In 2024 alone, the organization responded to over 22,500 incidents involving abandoned animals, underscoring the ongoing issue of animal cruelty and neglect.
