Inside Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts: The Middle East’s First All-Equestrian Library Curated by Isobel Abulhoul

The ADREA Library, part of Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts, is the Middle East and North Africa’s first dedicated equestrian library, curated by Isobel Abulhoul, a prominent figure in the UAE’s literary scene. Housing over 14,000 titles, the library covers every facet of horsemanship—from history and breeding to sports like polo and dressage—serving scholars, riders, and enthusiasts. Beyond its extensive collection, the library embodies a deep cultural and emotional connection to horses, especially the revered Arabian breed, reflecting the region’s rich equestrian heritage.

Abulhoul’s lifelong passions for literature and horses converge in this project, which also emphasizes nurturing creativity and empathy through reading and riding. The library includes a children’s section to inspire younger generations and preserves Emirati heritage in line with Sheikh Zayed’s vision. Assembled through global research, the multilingual collection features rare and out-of-print works and is fully catalogued for borrowing. The ADREA Library aims to grow organically, continually fostering a community united by a love of horses and books.
