In Indore, the wedding season has sparked a booming demand for tall, attractive white horses, considered a status symbol for wedding processions due to their regal appearance. Over 250 white horses are available across the city and nearby villages, with bookings ranging from ₹51,000 to a staggering ₹11 lakh for premium horses like “Padmavati,” which is reserved through 2027. Owners invest heavily in elaborate decorations costing up to ₹2.5 lakh, featuring silver-coated jewelry, driven by the popularity of wedding photography, drone shots, and social media reels that highlight the groom’s grand entrance.
These prized horses, often sourced from regions like Pushkar and Sarangkheda, are meticulously cared for, with special diets and grooming to maintain their beauty, as breeding is not practiced locally. Owners retain horses for their entire lifespan of 20–22 years, ensuring they remain in prime condition for up to 14 years to meet the high demand. The luxury and exclusivity of these “branded” mares have made them sought-after not only in Madhya Pradesh but also in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and southern India, reflecting a unique blend of tradition and modern wedding extravagance.
