Incredibolt’s Virginia Derby Win Highlights Baers’ Successful Thoroughbred Breeding Journey

Incredibolt, a 3-year-old son of Bolt d’Oro bred by Deann and Greg Baer, showcased his talent by winning the $500,000 Virginia Derby, overcoming doubts from a previous poor performance in the Holy Bull Stakes. Guided expertly by jockey Jaime Torres, Incredibolt’s victory earned him 50 qualifying points and a spot in the Kentucky Derby, marking a significant milestone for the Baers, who have been involved in Thoroughbred breeding since 2007. Their journey began with a passion for learning and realistic breeding strategies focused on sales, which has led to notable successes including stakes-winning horses like Piedi Bianchi and Outadore.

The Baers credit their achievements to continuous education, strong industry relationships, and support from prominent farms and trainers. Despite the inherent challenges and emotional highs and lows of horse breeding, they have remained dedicated, with many mares now based in Kentucky under expert care. Incredibolt was bred and raised at Burleson Farms, where the Baers have developed a close partnership. Their story reflects a blend of hard work, faith, and community, culminating in the excitement of potentially seeing one of their own compete at the highest level in the Kentucky Derby.
