In Loving Memory of Shaminette Shalhoob-Keegan: A Celebration of Life and Legacy

Shaminette Shalhoob-Keegan, affectionately known as Shami, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on April 7, 1961, in Santa Barbara, she grew up in Santa Ynez, where she developed a passion for animals and sports, participating in 4-H, gymnastics, cheerleading, and various team sports. Shami was known for her infectious enthusiasm and dedication, inspiring those around her with her vibrant spirit.

Throughout her life, Shami worked in several restaurants in the Santa Ynez Valley, cherishing the friendships and memories made during her time at Zaca Creek Restaurant and Shalhoob’s Restaurant in the 1980s. After marrying Brett Keegan in 1992, they settled in Atascadero, where she actively engaged in her sons’ education and sports, while also enjoying travel with family and friends.

Shami is survived by her husband, two sons, and numerous family members and friends who will deeply miss her. A celebration of her life is scheduled for June 7, 2025, at Hans Christian Andersen Park, with the family requesting donations to local 4-H chapters or animal services in lieu of flowers.
