Three Chimneys Farm’s homebred Igniter, trained by Rick Dutrow, Jr., remains undefeated in two starts this season and aims to secure his second stakes victory in Saturday’s $150,000 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct. After a strong one-length win in the Jimmy Winkfield Stakes, where he earned a career-best 86 Beyer Speed Figure, Igniter has shown improvement with a sharper start and tactical positioning. Dutrow is optimistic about the colt’s future, noting his preference for one-turn races but expressing hope for success at longer distances down the line. Regular rider Manny Franco returns to ride Igniter from post 4.
The Bay Shore field also features notable contenders such as Solitude Dude, who comes off a solid third-place finish in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth and boasts a 97 Beyer Speed Figure, and Time to Roll, who finished second to Igniter in the Winkfield and will race with blinkers for the first time. Other entrants include four-time winner Fulmine, making his barn debut for Norm Casse, and Racetrack Romance, stepping up to stakes competition. The race is set as the fourth on a nine-race card at Aqueduct, with live coverage available on FOX Sports and wagering through NYRA Bets.
