Hunstanton RNLI has temporarily brought in a relief vessel from the charity’s headquarters in Dorset to maintain lifesaving operations while their regular lifeboat, the Spirit of West Norfolk, undergoes a routine overhaul on the Isle of Wight. This maintenance is necessary due to the wear and tear from regular rescues, training exercises, and challenging sea conditions.
The RNLI spokesman emphasized the importance of regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure lifeboats remain fully operational and effective in saving lives. The charity maintains a reserve fleet to provide seamless, like-for-like coverage whenever a station’s lifeboat is out of service for refitting.
