Hungry Horse Community Recovers After Windstorm and Power Outage

Recent high winds and a storm caused widespread damage across Montana, notably in Hungry Horse, where a fallen tree knocked out power by hitting a power line. The community, including Flathead Electric Cooperative and local emergency services like the Hungry Horse Volunteer Fire Department, worked diligently to restore power and ensure safety. Although most power has been restored, crews continue overnight repairs while emergency teams remain vigilant for hazards such as downed lines.

Elsewhere, Red Lodge Mountain closed due to extreme wind gusts, urging visitors to stay updated on conditions. Flood damage in northwestern Montana near Libby has made the Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Trail unsafe, with landslides, washouts, and falling trees prompting road closures and warnings from Forest Service officials. Damage assessments are ongoing in affected areas.
