Humane Colorado is caring for over 70 horses and foals rescued from severe neglect on a rural property, where they suffered from extreme heat, lack of food, veterinary care, and severely overgrown hooves. Many of the animals are underweight, pregnant, and suffering from eye injuries, abscesses, and painful hoof and joint conditions causing lameness in more than half of them. The organization is providing specialized farrier care and extensive medical treatment to restore their health.
The rescue effort requires significant resources, and Humane Colorado is seeking help from the community to support the horses’ recovery. This need comes as the organization is also stretched thin after a recent large-scale rescue of nearly 100 cats and kittens. Those interested in following the horses’ progress or donating can do so through Humane Colorado’s donation page.
