Humane Colorado Rescues Over 70 Neglected Horses and Foals in Franktown

In early July, Humane Colorado, in collaboration with law enforcement, rescued over 70 horses and foals from severe neglect in Franktown, Colorado. The horses were found suffering from extreme conditions including insufficient food, lack of veterinary care, overgrown hooves, and various injuries such as eye infections, abscesses, and joint pain. Many mares were pregnant, and nearly half of the horses required urgent farrier care to address painful hoof issues. The organization emphasized that recovery will be a long process due to the extent of trauma and neglect these animals endured.

Humane Colorado is currently providing medical treatment, specialized nutrition, and foaling support to rehabilitate the horses. They highlighted the critical role of community support and donations in sustaining this effort, urging the public to contribute to the care and recovery of the rescued animals. Donations will directly fund veterinary care, farrier services, and other essential needs to help these horses heal and regain health.
