Lauren Jarvis and Guy Simmonds, a horse-riding instructor accused of sexually abusing a child under 16, are on trial at Cardiff Crown Court, both denying the charges. Jarvis testified that she had a sexual relationship with Simmonds that made her uncomfortable and that she agreed to have sex with him in exchange for free riding lessons, as she was scared of him. She denied any sexual activity involving both herself, Simmonds, and the underage girl together, but admitted that both she and the girl individually had sex with Simmonds on the night in question.
Jarvis described how Simmonds initially pursued her with flirtatious messages and pressured her into sex after a period of no contact. She also recounted an incident where Simmonds showed up uninvited at her flat when the alleged victim was present, leading to a tense situation where she felt coerced into sex while the girl stayed downstairs. Jarvis and the complainant had a close relationship, confiding in each other about their separate sexual encounters with Simmonds, but their friendship later deteriorated. The trial is ongoing.
