Troy, a 20-year-old Appaloosa horse from McHenry County, Illinois, was rescued after being swept away by floodwaters from Coon Creek during recent storms. About 45 rescuers, including firefighters and a local veterinarian, worked together to save Troy, who was found stranded in chest-deep, cold water suffering from severe hypothermia. Using a boat and a specially built raft system, they safely brought him to shore and then to an animal hospital for treatment.
After several days of care, Troy made a remarkable recovery and was reunited with his owner, Ashley Beaulieu, who expressed immense gratitude. The veterinarian noted Troy’s resilience and improvement, highlighting the successful rescue and treatment efforts that saved his life. Now back home, Troy is healthy, enjoying hay, and thriving after his harrowing ordeal.
